Contact Mics or Piezo Transducers are great ways to pick up vibrations off of random objects or standard instruments. I have seen these used in so many ways I am still amazed at their simplistic yet versatile use. These are typically cheap to produce, and a good device to always have in your bag. The possibilities are endless when combined with effects.
